Design with Quality
The Finnish design industry is constantly making effort to enhance the quality of design products. The latest advancement in the area is the announcement of Finnish quality label system, Laatumerkki.
Laatumerkki is a sign of quality in all areas of business, including marketing, manufacturing, design and economic issues. For the consumer this means a proof that the product with solid background.
To support the development, Laatumerkki board consists of experienced people that are committed to support the companies and their development.
The first set of Laatumerkki-certified products is now out. In Helsinki, they are for sale at Design Forum Shop.

It's of course good to have the public to decide what they like.
In this particular case it would be very hard for a non-professional (and even for them) to judge things related to manufacturing process, economic issues, company management etc. I have understood that Laatumerkki is more about that than giving a sign of "cool."
Deciding what's cool and what is not is really up to the public. And in the end they vote with their wallet, right?
Btw, I've seen some of your automotive stuff before...very nice...

I somehow find it quite hard to understand that it is almost in each case so that these signs or mentions are given by some experienced board or a committee, not the public... Small circles go around?

I really like Finnish Design. Simple and elegant. And your country design "climate" is most encouraging. Kondos to Finland!
